About us
Gidari Publishing is an imprint owned by Before 8 LLC. We launched Gidari Publishing to tell the stories of the Florentine Resistance in World War II. The courage, resilience and bravery of the Resistance fighters in Florence and Tuscany is memorialized largely in memoirs, articles and books written only in Italian. We believe the stories deserve a wider audience so we are translating and publishing them in English. Along the way, we expect to find other interesting stories to publish and to discuss. We hope you will follow along with us. and other interesting stories in Italian or English.
Albert Gidari is the managing director of Before 8 LLC. He is a technology lawyer and was the chair of data privacy practice at Perkins Coie law firm before retiring to teach at Stanford Law School and serve as the Consulting Director of Privacy at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society.
Stefano Gidari, Florentine by birth, graduated with top marks from the University of Florence, with a thesis on poetry. He teaches literature and sociology at international schools in Florence. Being passionate about music, he also has taught courses on jazz history and improvised music. He is a creative writer, enjoys poetry and loves a good story. As part of Gidari Publishing, he brings the essential FLorentine voice to the translation projects.
